Harris

Harris Silver left the Canadian Military in 2004 and took up a series of positions with the United Nations and the US State department in Afghanistan for the next three years. He had an opportunity to work on projects focussing on three of the main issues leading to stability in Afghanistan, namely disarmament, demobilisation and reintegration of the former Mujahadin fighters, the National Assembly and Provincial Council Elections, and Counter-Narcotic efforts in Kandahar Province . During his experience he re-kindled an interest in photography and had an opportunity to develop his photographic style and technique, capturing interesting moments during his sojourn. He conducted his first photographic show, Three Years in Afghanistan: Views On Disarmament, Elections And Counter-Narcotics presentation of this portfolio in Toronto, in April 2009. He is presently studying further photographic techniques at Ryerson University, as well as several other projects that have been brewing in his imagination for some time.
