Hal Freeman

I am an American living in Russia with two children. My son is 13, and my daughter is 7. My late wife was Russian, and we lived in St. Petersburg, Russia 2005-2008, and then moved to America. We lived in my home state of South Carolina for 8 years before returning to Russia in June of 2016. I took early retirement after spending most of my adult life teaching in a University in S.C. Unfortunately my wife found out in late 2019 that she had breast cancer. She passed away on August 23, 2022. My children and I are dual citizens of Russia and the U.S. Given the trauma of their mom's death, I did not want to move them back to America. They have friends here, and Oksana's parents live close by. Being a single parent is sometimes difficult in any situation I suppose. Living away from my extended family seems to have made it even more difficult. I have two grown sons who are married and have children. They live in South Carolina. I miss them very much, but I firmly believe we are where we should be.
