Why Habisha's Blog? Habisha is the Ethiopian word for native. I was born in the United States, raised in Ethiopia and am habisha to neither country, really. I am a Third Culture Kid, a person who takes parts of both cultures and amalgamates them to make their own. But I identify most closely the African part of me, hence being habisha. I began my professional writer in 1983 when I needed something to do while pregnant with my first child. That simple short story idea turned into a novel and I never looked back. I've been writing for the past 28 years with numerous articles and a book to my credit. I love what I do. Every day is a chance to get better at my craft, to learn something new and fresh. Some of that will end up in this blog. Some of my writing frustrations and all of my joys, my ups and downs, as well as some of my life end up in this blog. Sometimes my head is just too full or someone has asked me a thought-provoking question, like what do you consider success, and I have something to ask or say about it. At the moment I am working on two novels -- an historical and a science fiction -- and a short story, a regency murder mystery. When not writing I enjoy reading, cooking, travel and hanging out with my husband and family. I invite you to come, read the entries and subscribe to my blog. Add comments. I love hearing from every one who reads here. Have a great day, Deb
