I am a literacy coach for grades k to 5. When I began the journey of writing, I read Wondrous Words by Katie Wood Ray. Visiting the library and reading books by favorite authors was a suggestion Katie gave in the book. That summer, I went to the library weekly. Books had been shared that I loved, so I began pulling those authors' books and reading. I remember sitting in an isle with several picture books in the children's section. My children were young, so I read and read to them as well. Several collegues influenced me as well on my journey. Now, I cannot pick up a book without noticing writer's craft or the author's voice. I love to savor a book, reading and rereading, pondering why an author chose the structure or craft he/she did.
