I am a PhD graduate of the Comparative Literature Department at UC Davis. My current research looks at what I refer to as "mediating literature." Authors of novels that fall under this category express an overt desire to negotiate the relationship between members of two or more cultures who are in conflict as a result of immigration. My main interest in this subject is to explore how these particular novels open the doors for discourse on the real and frustrating struggles that the members of both sides of the immigration issues experience.
