Ellen Porter

II have published seven books (soon to be eight) , starting with The Red Hawk. This is an ongoing series about a fictional family The Redskins. The series pays tribute to my high school's former mascot, Reddy Redskin, and the ancestors I have created for him. It was inspired when the California State Legislature "murdered" Reddy by outlawing the use of Redskins as a mascot. I also have worked as a journalist and a public relations specialist. For a while, I had my own company, Pen Porter, where I provided copy writing and editing services, media relations services, marketing communications and book editing for clients. I lived in California for 57 years before moving to Texas two years ago. When I am not writing I travel with my husband to help him sell vinyl records at locations in Texas and Oklahoma. I also enjoy walking, cooking and the company of my Tuxedo cat, Teddy.
