Semi retired burnt out industrial chemist, senior manager, lone HR practitioner, quarry manager and small "farmer", living near Narrogin in the Upper Great Southern region of Western Australia (WA). This region forms part of the WA wheat belt which contributes around 11 million tonnes of grain in a good year. Update: 2013 harvest around 16 million tonnes-new record! Rainfall here is not high at 503 mm (20 inches) but falls pretty much through the growing season. I am yet to be convinced about AGW, my BS detector has rarely failed and in this debate I can see complicity at all national & international levels. This not a theory but an observation. Politically, I see myself as conservative/libertarian who believes in true freedoms of expression and self actuation and less regulation of individuals & honest business. Our present socialist Federal Government has mismanaged to reduce an initial $60+ billion cash surplus-into a $260+ billion debt in a little over 5 years. I'm sure you can empathise, Bob. Our elected representatives, in both Houses, seem more concerned with their political careers than good government. We do, however, have some very good members in the Opposition Liberal/Nation coalition. If interested, have a look at Barnaby Joyce, a Senator from Queensland (our second largest State and, sorry again, a tad bigger than TX). In fact, he lives near the town of Texas! That's a wrap, I like your straight-up approach. Cheers, Dave
