Washington State University Murrow Alumni '21 Major in Multimedia Journalism & Minor in Sports Communications Currently attending Arizona State Walter Cronkite Master's Program for Sports Journalism. I want to become an NFL beat writer covering any of the 32 organizations. What motivates me is the ability to share other people’s stories when they don’t feel they have a voice—sharing the story of fighting through a significant injury and getting back on the field/court—or the family aspect of who helped a player get where they are now. I want to cover the NFL because, in May of 2019, I subscribed to The Athletic, and it all clicked for me that I could become a beat writer. By becoming a beat writer, I’m around the organization, gaining valuable knowledge not just of games but behind the scenes who’s under the helmet. I have cerebral palsy, but I don't let that define who I am. As a storyteller, I enjoy showing how athletes overcome adversity—one way I can connect to the athlete.
