Marque Rome is a freelance writer based in Phuket and Chalong Bay for over 20 years. He has covered news and events in Thailand for various publications including Phuket Gazette, Siang Tai Times, The Nation, Bangkok Post, Phuket Magazine and Action Asia during that time, and was for nine years the voice of Phuket on FM 89's Late Show. Mr Rome is well-known locally for his political commentary, entertainment, cultural and dining columns. He co-ordinated with the Tourism Authority of Thailand the 1996 Southern Thailand Jazz and Blues Festival, held in honour of His Majesty King Bhumibol's 50th anniversary since accession to the throne of Thailand, which gathered some 45 musicians from around the world for performances in Phuket, Koh Samui and Songkhla.
