I am 59 and female. I moved to the Highlands of Scotland, bringing my three cats, the tools of my trade (medicine) some books and not a lot else, almost a year ago, to live in my Significant Other's house with him and his three labradors. I have two grown-up children, both with lovely partners, so the SO and I have reduced the travel between the Cairngorms and Essex to see one another and are mostly making the family come to see us. Because it's not so very far away, really. And the roads are perfectly usable most of the time, thanks to the gritting lorries and the local councils. And I've now had to start treatment for breast cancer, which has been interesting but is cramping my style a bit. I'm not working much at present (not sensible to risk infections on chemotherapy), but am getting back into things I was neglecting such as gardening (that's a bit different up North, too), cooking and music. I hope to share some observations and experiences which others may find useful or amusing. It was going to be mainly about animals but the cancer thing will come into it too now.
