Catherine Blackfeather was born in Canada but grew up in England. She is a dancer, live storyteller and poet She worked in Community Dance in West Wales for 25 years, being a founder member and co-director of Cyrff Ystwyth Dance co, mixed disabled and AB members 1987-1993 (Based in Aberystwyth). She then set up Colomenywod Dance Company, working with mixed ability adults from 1993- 2009, (Aberystwyth and Lampeter) and began to teach Authentic Movement, as well as OCN accredited Creative dance at Aberystwyth Art Centre and for Lampeter WEA between 1998-2003 She was also involved for around 10 years in a Women’s Music and Performing Arts Festival run annually in Lampeter, called Women in Tune, leading workshops in movement and dance, and storytelling, and also directing multi-media shows pulling together work from all the different activities that had taken place during the six days of the festival- such as dance, creative writing, storytelling and spoken word, improv music, puppetry, children etc. After many years of setting up writing workshops for other people, she found herself writing too. She has written many short stories in the folk tale format, which she performs as live tellings in her local area or as Dubhna Rhiadra in Second Life. Presently working in England with a new small company DarkofMoon.
