I am now retired, and living in Upstate New York. I am enthusiastic about our long-term prospects in Fulton County. We certainly have many problems--blight, poverty, money--but we also have great advantages: The Adirondacks to the north, the fertile Mohawk Valley to the south (fertile land and small farms, if we can protect it), water (let me repeat: WATER!). It could be soon that the predictions are realized: a barrel of water will cost more than one of oil. We're sitting pretty (again, if we can protect it). I believe we can solve our problems, methodically, perhaps only one at a time, but, with effort, we can do it (I'm not running for office, so I really do believe it)
