Deacon William T. Ditewig, Ph.D.

I am a Catholic deacon of the Roman Rite, ordained on 25 March 1990 and incardinated into the Archdiocese of Washington, DC. My wife and I have been married for more than fifty years, and we have four children and fourteen grandchildren. I served for twenty-two years on active duty in the United States Navy, retiring as a Commander in 1993. I have a BA in Philosophy, an MA in Education, another MA in Pastoral Theology, and a Ph.D. in Theology and Religious Studies from The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. I write extensively on the Second Vatican Council and on the renewed diaconate. For nearly six years I served on the senior staff of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. I have served on diocesan staffs in the Archdiocese of Washington, DC, and the dioceses of Davenport, Iowa, Belleville, Illinois, and Monterey, California. I have taught Theology in a number of universities, including Santa Clara University, the Pontifical College Josephinum, Chaminade University of Honolulu, Saint Leo University, and the University of South Florida.
