Born in Sydney, Barvara Hush completed her training as a Registered Nurse, worked in Television Production on a National Medical Programme before leaving Australia to work in London. Travel captivated her interest and led her to explore Europe and the Middle East. Working in 9 countries Barvara used her nursing skills to support her travel interests in the arts, visiting numerous theatres, major museums and galleries. Barvara spent 12 years in New York City, involved in an alternative healing practise, painted, exhibited and won awards in photography, designed sets for theatre productions, wrote and performed in dance, theatre and poetry. Her personal and spiritual development evolved through experiences in Metaphysics, Jungian and Reichian Therapy. Barvara’s interest in health issues was rekindled when she returned to Sydney with her young son. Massive changes and environmental degradation led her to return to study to obtain investigative journalism skills. Barvara has a B. A . in Communication from the University of Technology in Sydney. Her first video “White Dust and Lies” won the “New Film maker Award” sponsored by Metro Screen and the St Petersburg “Green Vision 99” Award, the video screened in many other countries. Barvara Is passionate regarding social and environmental issues, and finds the time as an activist in the community. She continues her work as a advocate for the aged. Barvara has researched for a number of local projects, and is currently writing the history of Crows Nest, based on the 50’s and socio-cultural change in North Sydney. Barvara has also been involved in various mural projects in the area, and currently volunteers at the Coal Loader Community garden. She continues her art work, photograph, poetry and writing, and plans to move to the countryside in the near future to set up a studio. Barvara also loves music, food, and to travel...
