I'm a wife, daughter and sister, and a mom to two boys. One has "grown and flown" as they say. My other son, younger by three years, lives at home full time. He has a dual diagnosis of two genetic diseases that have greatly impacted his life, and ours. His life expectancy is limited, yet through excellent care, lots of love, and pure chance and fate, he has defied expectations and has, so far, lived into his 20s. The journey of caring for him at home, 24/7, has both complicated and enriched our lives. Writing about some of this experience is something that is cathartic for me, and hopefully, sharing my feelings might ring true and be helpful to others who take the time to read.
