I am a Caribbean medical student at the American University of the Caribbean (AUC) and in December 2010 I will leave St. Maarten for Clinicals. In 2008 I and others fought against AUC and the Student Government Association (SGA) on behalf of the marginalized communities of AUC. We initially banded together under another alias but became referred to as the DC; Diversity Council. We fought over several semesters to ensure more cultural activities were done at AUC (since none were being done at the time) and to stop the institutionalized marginalization of minority student organizations.
