Caron Eastgate Dann

Caron Eastgate Dann is a writer and university lecturer in communications and media based in Melbourne, Australia. She previously worked as a journalist in Australia, Thailand and her native New Zealand, then moved to academia after completing a PhD in literary studies, focusing on western writing about Thailand. She is the author of the non-fiction book Imagining Siam: a travellers' literary guide to Thailand, (Monash University Press); and the historical novel The sisters of Siam (Amazon) previously published as The Occidentals under the name Caron Eastgate James (Asia Books) and in German translation as Das Erbe der Schwestern (Nymphenburger; Knaur; TechniSat). Caron lived in Thailand for four years during the 1990s—in Nonthaburi and Bangkok—and has travelled to Thailand another 23 times. As well as Australia and NZ, she has also lived in York in the UK and Los Angeles in the US.
